Making Your Own Aromatherapy Candles

Candles are a great way to enjoy all of the great benefits that aromatherapy has to offer. Candles are long lasting, inexpensive, and visually pleasing. However, ready-made aromatherapy candles can be expensive, so we’ll tell you how to do it yourself.

There are a couple different ways that you can make your own candles, and it’s very simple to do. If you are the crafty type of person you can certainly make the candles yourself for little money. Simply pick up some paraffin in the canning section at your local grocery store and a candle mold at the craft store. There are different shapes and sizes. You’ll be able to choose colors for the wax and then you will need your favorite essential oils. All you need to do is melt the wax in a microwave save container, or in a pot of simmering water on the store, add coloring and essential oils and pour into the mold. You can cover the top of the mold with foil to keep the essential oils from evaporating out while the candle cools. Once cool, you can burn it like any other candle, but with all the benefits of aromatherapy.

If you aren’t the crafty type, that’s ok. There is an easy way to make aromatherapy candles that doesn’t involve melting wax. Take any unscented candle in any shape and size you want. Take a sharp metal tool like an ice pick or skewer and poke several holes in the candle, parallel to the wick. Simply drip essential into the spaces and then light the candle. This will melt the wax and plug the holes to keep the essential oils from evaporating before you burn the entire candle. Then when you want to use your aromatherapy candle, simply light and enjoy.
