Essential Oils to Help with Alertness

In the hectic day to day lives that we lead, all of us have the ability to be overcome by fatigue. This is yet another area that aromatherapy can help. There are basically three essential oils that can help in this area.

Rosemary focuses on awareness. An interesting fact is that it takes 68 pounds of rosemary to make a pound of the essential oil, but the work is definitely worth it. It has an overall stimulating effect on the body, both mentally and physically. Additionally, it’s will increase your ability to memorization and mental concentration. It can give you the shakes, and make sure to see your doctor if you have epilepsy, as it can potentially trigger an episode.

The second essential oil for alertness is peppermint. In addition to keeping you awake and aware, peppermint can help with headaches, nausea, and vertigo. There are a great many traditional medical doctors who tout the properties of peppermint. It should however not be used in with people who have medical conditions of the heart, epilepsy, or fever, because the effects can create real medical emergencies.

The last is orange essential oil. Commonly, people think that this harkens back to waking up to fresh orange juice and is a pleasant memory. In reality, it is the diffused oil that is invigorating. The only caution is that it creates photosensitivity if exposed to the skin.
